ABOUT THE ORCHESTRA

The Orchestra of Peace brings volunteer and professional musicians together to enjoy the beauty of orchestral music in the glory of the Kingdom of God, which is here and now. Participants gather as members of Christ’s church, though they need not be Christian to join. The ensemble rehearses to prepare great works of art that ennoble musicians and listeners alike to live better, more inspired and faith-filled lives. Audience members are at times seated in the midst of the ensemble to get a closer, more powerful experience of orchestral life.  We will perform the works of great masters in concerts, worship, and at events to spread the Word of God.

Participants in the Orchestra of Peace also participate in the love of the Holy Trinity, which calls us to truth through art. The group aims to be the musical salt of the earth in a secular world, acknowledging that all good things around us come from God—including the joy of music.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR - DEACON TIMOTHY WOODS

In 1991, Timothy Woods completed a Master of Music Degree in Conducting from Northwestern University, studying with Maestro Victor Yampolsky and Dr. Robert Harris.  He has also studied with Kenneth Kiesler, Director of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra and Director of Orchestras at the University of Michigan.   Before that he also studied with David Crowe, then Associate Conductor of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. He has participated in a conducting worksop with Maestro Otto-Werner-Mueller.  From 1992-1995, he was Music Director of the Fort Wayne Summer Symphony.   Also in 1995, Mr. Woods began Lincoln Chamber Productions (LCP), in Lincoln IL, dedicated to the performance of sacred and secular chamber music. LCP is now in its 24th season.

Mr. Woods has taught music in both public and private school systems for nine years.  He also has over thirty years experience as a music director in the Roman Catholic tradition.  He attended Ball State University where, in 1983, he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education.  Mr. Woods attributes his earliest training and inspiration in music to his father, Joseph, who was also a musician and teacher.  He calls his mother, Betty, his first voice teacher.  In 1998, Mr. Woods founded the Musicam Sacram Choir of Chicago, now the Ecclesia Choirs.  Originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana, Timothy now lives in Highland, Indiana with his wife, Jennifer, and their five children.  Since 1995, he has worked at various parishes in the Chicago area, of both Eastern and Western Catholic traditions.  As a member of the Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Parish (Fr. Thomas Loya, pastor) he was conductor of the parish choir from 2002-2006. During that time, the choir toured and released its only CD recording, “Theosis”.   Now an ordained Deacon for the Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Parma, Deacon Tim’s  greatest musical desire is to provide the most beautiful music possible for the worship, honor and glory of God.
